It all started on the 21 of August 2012, my last day in united stated MY FIRST DAY IN HAITI!!!!
And the roller coaster ride just begun. First off being away from the country for more than 20 years is another handful. Haiti the best and the worse. Someone would have thought this is the first country to gain its independence, there would have been a lot to show just for that accomplishment alone, but once again Haiti is in another circle by itself. Chaos, hunger, greed, has overwhelmed the country, and now the biggest problem GANGS......... In my area PERNIER where I'm living and been living since, I stepped foot back in Haiti has become a cowboy town.
Almost every youth and mid aged man is armed. Women also are heavily armed. I personally don't see the reason for joining and becoming part of the gangs but unfortunately there are far more that think other wise. No police presence, hospitals closed down, there nothing that's dealing with banks or institute's of that nature open in the area. No private vehicles everything is being ran and operated by armed hoodlums.
Now, when I first got to Haiti it wasn't as bad as it is now. I mean it wasn't all joyful but as in the way of life it's 2 different worlds. Less expensive more tourists more activities and the insecurities were not at and all time high like now. At this point of time 7 or 8 o'clock is not the time to be outside unless your involved in activities that are not right. The diaspora department took a major blow. It's kinda of like the country is cursed beyond repair. Watching people get set on fire alive, getting chopped up by machetes is mind boggling.
One has to look at oneself and move in another matter to survive in the country here. Like I said before the first country to get its independence is also the poorest country on the western hemisphere. That's something no matter what I do I'm unable to put that together, like where did the Haitian people go wrong.
**To be continued**
"The Struggle Continues"
Let's all pray for Haiti.
